About EightSix

Built by people who have worked both sides of the deal

EightSix Games is a China market entry advisory for PC and mobile game studios: we find the right Chinese publisher, negotiate the deal and check what the publisher delivers. It is built on experience from inside a major European games publisher, leading marketing for Asia and launching AAA titles into China, and exists to bring that experience to studios doing it for the first time.

Why it exists

The deal is where China is won or lost

The pattern repeats. A Western PC game picks up Chinese demand on its own: reviews in Simplified Chinese, a wishlist skew nobody planned for. A publisher approaches, or the studio goes looking. Then a studio with no China experience negotiates a co-publishing contract in a second language, against terms and market norms it has never seen, and signs without knowing what the numbers should look like.

Having worked both sides of these deals, we know which terms decide the outcome: how recoupment is structured, how marketing commitments are written so both parties can hold to them, and what a reporting cycle should contain. EightSix settles each of those before the signature and keeps track of them after it, so the studio and the publisher are working from the same understanding.

How we work

Four rules, no exceptions

One

Facilitator, not publisher

We do not take a licence, a build or a share of your IP. The Chinese co-publisher does the local work and funds it. We choose them with you, write the deal so the work is enforceable, and check that it happens.

Two

You approve everything

The shortlist, the publisher, the terms, the creative. We recommend and we negotiate; the decisions stay with the studio whose game it is.

Three

One fee structure, paid on success

No retainer and no upfront fee. When a Chinese partner signs, a £5,000 fee (£10,000 with the launch review), credited against a share of 20% of China net revenue up to £50,000 and 10% above it.

Four

Plain English

A monthly summary you can forward to your board, not a spreadsheet and not a glossary. If a clause matters, we tell you what it does in one sentence.

The name

+86 is the dialling code for China

EightSix is named for it, and built for the developers making the call. We are based in Sydney and work across Chinese and European hours, which in practice means a publisher in Shanghai and a studio in Stockholm both get a same-day answer.

What you will not find here

No testimonials yet. Your own numbers instead.

EightSix is new under this name, and we would rather show you nothing than show you something invented. The better test of whether we know what we are doing is the free assessment: send your game link and within 24 hours on working days you have an honest read of your game’s China demand, the publisher types that fit and a realistic revenue share range. If the numbers do not justify a move, we say so.

The next step

Find out what your game is worth in China

A free assessment of your game's existing China demand: reviews, wishlists and comparable titles, summarised in plain English. No pitch, no obligation, and you keep your IP either way.
